The Christmas Bird Count is a great way to help determine the bird population at Tyler Arboretum. We have been doing this for over 45 years, and we would love to have you join in on the fun! This year, we are breaking up the day into two sessions. Registration is required. Sign up for one or both! (Registration for sessions sold separately)

Session 1: Early Morning Christmas Bird Count, 5:30 am - 7:00 am, check in with your guide on the Visitor Center Patio.

For those who like an early start, this session begins before sunrise in search of nocturnal and early-rising birds. We may spot screech owls, great-horned owls, and saw-whet owls, along with other elusive species active in the quiet morning hours. The group will return to the parking lot by 7:00 am. 

Session 2: Mid-Morning Christmas Bird Count, 8 am - 12 pm, check in with your guide on the Visitor Center Patio.

We’ll be looking for many of our friends: sparrows, robins, cardinals, nuthatches, kinglets, raptors, and many more.
