Garden Sprouts: Summer Bundle of 7 classes

This event is no longer on sale.

Tuesday June 5

1:00 PM  –  2:30 PM

For Ages 4 – 6

Edible Garden Sprouts programs introduce children and their favorite adult to the world of plants and gardening. Children who grow their own food are more likely to eat fresh fruits and vegetables. Each program includes time in the children’s garden. Our mini gardeners will learn about the process of gardening by planting seeds, maintaining their young plants and harvesting vegetables.

Bundle of 7 classes, Tuesdays, 1-2:00 PM:

June 4 - Flower Feeders

Pollinators like butterflies, bees and hummingbirds are an important part of any garden. Take some time to search our garden for pollinators and then plant special flowers to attract these critters.

June 18 - Parts of a Plant

Can we really eat the whole plant? Harvest plants from our garden and taste the fruits (and leaves and roots) of our labor. They are all tasty!

July 2 - Food Rainbow

Discover the colors of the rainbow right in our garden! Go on a color hunt to see what you can find. Harvest some vegetables bursting with color, and discover what you can do with our beautifully pigmented finds.

July 16 - Fall Crop

July is a busy time in the garden. Now is the time to plant our cool weather crops like broccoli, cabbage and carrots! Get your hands dirty getting these seeds into the garden. Take a look around and see what needs to be harvested, and enjoy our bounty.

July 30 - Life Cycle Picnic

Plants change and grow as they move through their life cycle. Explore the garden to see how many different phases we can find – seeds, sprouts, flowers and fruit. Harvest some plants and see what parts are the most delicious.

August 13 - Under the Plants

Healthy soil is essential for plant growth. Come with us on an earthy adventure and investigate compost, red wiggler worms and insects that are important for the garden. Then we’ll harvest some summer veggies. Get ready to get your hands dirty!

August 27 - Terrific Tea

Tea can be made from all sorts of plants. Explore the garden to discover which can be made into this delicious beverage. We’ll harvest aromatic herbs and make some homemade brew.  Then plant some seeds that will turn into tea plants.
