CANCELLED: Mushroom Walk with the Philadelphia Mycology Club

This event is no longer on sale.

Sunday August 13

10:00 AM  –  12:00 PM

FOR ADULTS AND TEENS AGES 15-17

Join us to search for fungi with Philadelphia Mycology Club founder Bethany Teigen.  During this walk, we will explore Tyler’s natural areas in search of mushrooms and identify the specimens we find.  In addition, we will learn about mushrooms and mushroom hunting, where to look for mushrooms and methods of mushroom identification.  All levels of fungi enthusiasts are welcome.

About your guide: Bethany Teigen founded the Philadelphia Mycology Club in 2018 after finding some mushrooms coming up between the Philly cobblestones.  Since then, the community of novice and experienced mycologists has grown to thrive in Greater Philadelphia.  Bethany is also a volunteer for the Fungal Diversity Survey, a national non-profit dedicated to documenting and conserving the diverse macrofungi of North America.

Check in at the Visitor Center, where you’ll meet your guide.  Please dress for the outdoors and wear supportive hiking shoes, as we will be hiking over diverse terrain and grade.  Bring water and a snack.
