Catch the glow of fireflies this summer.

Step into a warm summer night as bioluminescent fireflies flicker across the landscape. Explore their life cycle and learn how to support these remarkable insects by creating a healthy habitat in your own yard. Discover simple, effective ways to make your space more welcoming to fireflies and other nighttime wildlife.

After the presentation (weather permitting), head outside for a dusk-to-dark walk to see fireflies in action.

About your presenter: Woody is an environmentalist who loves exploring the natural world. He is a Pennsylvania Master Naturalist, a Xerces Society Ambassador, and serves on the Media Borough Environmental Advisory Council. He enjoys sharing the wonders of nature with Arboretum visitors.

PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.

What to expect:

• Gates open at 7:45 pm
• Check in at the Visitor Center patio upon arrival
• 30-minute presentation in the Barn Loft, followed by a guided firefly walk
• A nighttime experience in natural, low-light conditions
• Walking surfaces include pavement, grass, and gravel
• Restrooms available

What to wear & carry:

• Closed-toe shoes with good tread
• Flashlight
• Bug spray (please apply before arrival)

MEMBERS (sign in for your 15% discount!): Adult: $21.25 each; Child (ages 3-17): $17 each; Child (2 and under): Free and no need to register

NON-MEMBERS: Adult: $25 each; Child (ages 3-17): $20 each; Child (2 and under): Free and no need to register

ACCESS/EBT HOLDERS (with ID): $12.50 each. Please present your ACCESS/EBT card at check-in at the Visitor Center.

GUEST PASS HOLDERS (for non-members only): Adult: $21.25 each; Child (3-17): $10 each; Child (2 and under): Free, and no need to register. Please give your guest passes to the Visitor Center Associate at check-in. Each participant must submit a guest pass.
