The ONE Symposium is designed for those who steward our shared public green spaces - parks, gardens, nature preserves and open spaces. Learn techniques and strategies from local, regional and national authorities on how to tend to these valuable resources with ecological sensitivity and how to respond to unexpected natural events.

About Our Speakers:

Allison Brown, Ph.D. focuses on fungi and the diagnosis of fungal diseases. She has conducted research in coastal wetlands and the New Jersey pinelands. With expertise in mycology, biology, and botany, Allison teaches in each of the fields at Delaware Valley University and formerly taught for Longwood Gardens and Temple University.

Edwin Kline is the Special Operations Manager for the Department of Emergency Services of Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Focused on government and non-governmental disaster response and emergency preparedness, he has experience in fire, police, and volunteer management.

John Munro, professional applied ecologist and owner of Munro Ecological Services has worked on many projects including inventories, design, permitting, installation, and monitoring. His design approach uses the most ecologically appropriate methods, structures, materials, and plantings as possible.

Samantha Nestory, naturalist and horticulturist at Stoneleigh: A Natural Garden, holds ecology and entomology degrees from the University of Delaware. Passionate about ecological, gardening and native plants, and especially insect conservation, she advocates for the insect community through public education.

Dwayne Sperber, owner of Wudeward Urban Forest Products, is a founding member of nonprofit Wisconsin Urban Wood. He represents Wisconsin as a member of the Urban Wood Network, which promotes regional and national awareness of the urban wood market. This market encourages the reuse of trees lost to insects such as Emerald Ash Borer.
