For Adults (18+) and Teens ages 15 - 17

Pink Hill is known as a “serpentine barrens,” but this ancient grassland is anything but barren. These globally rare ecosystems are biodiversity hotspots, home to many imperiled species. Of the roughly 40 serpentine barrens recorded in the eastern United States a century ago, fewer than 20 remain, all of which have been diminished by habitat loss. Pink Hill is the last surviving serpentine barren of the 10 that once existed in Delaware County.

Join us to explore its unique landscape, discover endangered and threatened species, and learn how Tyler is working to restore and protect this geological, ecological, and cultural treasure. Hear how the barrens trace their origins to continental collisions, extinct megafauna, and Native American history.

This moderately paced hike is for adults and teens. A registered adult must accompany all teens. Please arrive and check in at the Visitor Center patio window by 12:30 pm. You'll meet your group and be escorted to Pink Hill, a walk of about 25 minutes. Once you arrive at Pink Hill, the tour will run from 1:00 to 2:15 pm, and then the group will depart for the walk back to the Visitor Center, arriving at 2:45 pm. Be prepared to walk short distances on steep hills and uneven terrain. Please wear appropriate walking shoes and bring a reusable water bottle. Bug spray and long pants are recommended for tick prevention. The overall time at Tyler is 12:30-2:45 pm.

Members (sign in for your discount!): $5 per adult; $3 per teen (ages 15-17)

Non-members: $21 per adult; $13 per teen (ages 15-17). The non-member fee includes admission to Tyler for the day, so feel free to stay as long as you'd like! 

Guest Pass Holders (for non-members only): $5 per adult guest; $3 per teen guest. Please give the Visitor Center Associate your guest passes at check-in.
