FOR ADULTS (18+) AND YOUTH AGES 15+
This Ramble will explore the trails and the large variety of trees of the secluded and little-visited East Woods of Tyler Arboretum. The landscape includes a lush lowland area with three springs enveloped in lovely ferns and mosses. An area of serpentine rock is readily observed, this being an extension of the outcropping that is Pink Hill. The East Woods of Tyler was also once a dense forest and the site of a land management project which took place in the late ’70s. Crossing Barren Road on the Minshall Trail (white blazes), we will walk through woodland adjacent to the east side of Dismal Run. This Ramble involves a moderate amount of hiking on hilly, rocky terrain. Please arrive by 9:45 am and go directly to the East Woods parking lot, not to Tyler’s Visitor Center.
Directions from Tyler’s main entrance to the East Woods Parking lot: turn left onto Painter Road, then turn left on Barren Road. You will pass Arbor Circle on your right. Shortly thereafter, someone will be at the entrance to the parking lot located at the East Woods to meet you and check you in. The tour begins here.

While a description of each ramble is posted in advance, we reserve the right to make last-minute changes, including adjustments for weather and trail conditions. Bring your reusable water bottle and dress for the weather, including sturdy shoes.
PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED
Members: $5 per adult, $3 per youth ages 15-17 (sign-in for your Member discount!);
Non-Members: $21 per adult, $13 per youth ages 15-17. The fee includes admission, so feel free to stay the day!
Guest Pass Registrants: $5 per non-member. Please give your guest pass to the Visitor Center Associate at check-in.
All youth must be accompanied by an adult. The fee is for each adult and each youth.
