Tyler Docent Training Session 1 on Zoom

This event is no longer on sale.

Thursday March 31

10:00 AM  –  12:00 PM

Do you have a passion for the natural world and want to share this with Tyler visitors? Do your family and friends compliment you on your knowledge of trees, pond life, birds, the climate, or how you always know where to find information? If so, this information session was designed for you.

People love our tours, and we need folks to help guide people through nature. Tyler Arboretum is expanding the Docent team! Be the person who brings landscapes, ecosystems, historic and Champion trees to life and helps people fall in love with Tyler. If you are happiest being in front of people of all ages, sharing the wonders of nature...we need you, and nature needs you!

Details:

Docent Training begins on Thursday, March 31, 10 am to noon and will run for eight weeks, every Thursday. Training will be a hybrid of cyber and on-site to cover Tyler areas. Subjects covered are Tyler's history, collections, gardens, interacting with diverse audiences and more. A general knowledge level is what we are seeking. You can develop a subject of interest once you master the basics.

Docents are expected to tour Thursdays through Sundays, April to the end of October. On average, you can expect to lead three to four one-hour tours per month, with some months and days busier than others (April/May, Sept/Oct). If you cannot commit to this, we ask that you sit out and join us another year.

FREE; PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED

The Zoom link will be emailed to you the day before the event.

Please note: If you would like more information before committing, please join the free Information Zoom session Joining the Tyler Docent Team: Info Session on Zoom, scheduled for March 24 at 7 pm by registering here.
