Weekend Warm-up Hike: Signs of Spring

FOR ADULTS 18+

Start your Friday on the right foot with an invigorating one-hour hike through Tyler’s gardens and into the wilder natural areas beyond the deer exclusion fence. Designed as a moderate cardio workout, we’ll cover about 2½ to 3 miles at a fast pace—but don’t worry, we’ll also take time to pause for those unexpected moments nature has in store.

  • Gates open at 7:45 am
  • The group leaves promptly from the parking lot at 8:10 am.
  • Please arrive on time. 
  • Check in with your experienced guide in the parking lot.
  • Restrooms will be open.

What to expect on the trail:

  • 2½ to 3-mile fast-paced hike
  • Walking surfaces that include pavement, grass, gravel, and rocky trails
  • Changes in grade, including possible steep hills
  • Hikes are not suitable for those with limited mobility.

What to wear & carry:

  • Dress in layers for the weather
  • Hiking boots or shoes with good tread
  • Water 
  • Hiking poles (optional)

PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED

MEMBERS: Adults: FREE 

NON-MEMBERS: Adults (ages 18-64):$18 per person; Seniors (ages 65+): $15 per person. The fee includes admission for the day, so you can stay as long as you'd like.

GUEST PASS HOLDERS (for non-members only): FREE. Please give your guest passes to the lead guide upon arrival, or inform them that you are accompanying a Family or higher-level member as their guest. This program is free with your guest pass admission, so feel free to stay as long as you'd like after the program!

LIBRARY PASS HOLDERS: FREE. Please stop by the Visitor Center after the program to inform the Visitor Center Associate that you participated in the Weekend Warm-up Hike and present your Library pass. This program is free with your library pass admission, so feel free to stay as long as you'd like after the program!
